New 2024 GMC Yukon Models, Colors, PriceThe New 2024 GMC Yukon competes with other full-size SUVs like the Nissan Armada, the Ford Expedition, and the Chevrolet Tahoe. The GMC Yukon is available in 5 distinct trim levels, ranging from a starting MSRP of $55,000 to a maximum of $92,150. However, the three available engines show that not all packages are created equal.

The base model has a 5.3L V8 that generates 355 hp and 519 lb-ft of torque. The GMC Yukon can pull up to 8,300 pounds when fitted with this engine. One can also get a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 machine as an extra. Both motors can be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. There is also a 277-horsepower 3.0L Inline-6 Turbodiesel engine option for the GMC Yukon.

New 2024 GMC Yukon Redesign

Compared to its forerunner, the new GMC Yukon is a visual upgrade. The more prominent grille and unique headlights give it a more commanding presence than before. The daytime running lights, taillights, turn signals, and fog lights are all equipped with LED technology as standard on all models. The rest of the lineup rides on larger 20-inch alloys, while the entry-level model makes do with 18-inches. The red recovery hooks and high-performance front skid plate stand out on the rugged AT4. The Denali is the only trim level that comes standard with a panoramic power sunroof, but other levels, like the AT4 we tested, offer it as an option. The Denali has a unique grille design and satin chrome accents on the body side moldings.

In particular, the Yukon AT4 has a gorgeous body. The $8,650 AT4 Premium Plus Package on our test vehicle included the power-retractable assist steps with excellent LED perimeter lighting, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, adaptive air suspension, and the Satin Steel Metallic paint job (a $495 option). However, the price of this bundle has dropped recently. The all-terrain tires that came on the 20-inch aluminum wheels with carbon gray metallic accents were fine, but we would have preferred winter tires given the season. Overall, it’s a highly stylish SUV that wouldn’t look out of place at a top-tier ski lodge.

Interior

The cabin of the New 2024 GMC Yukon has undergone minimal revisions compared to earlier models. However, the model year has added new tech features such as a 12.0-inch digital gauge display and an updated infotainment interface. The dashboard is finished in a plusher, soft-touch material, and higher-end materials are used throughout the cabin. Chrome plating can be found on all the controls and buttons. The rules on the steering wheel are silky smooth, and everything is neatly laid out. Those who are taller may have trouble getting in and out of the car, despite the ample front-seat space.

In its three-row configuration, the 2024 GMC Yukon offers seating for eight people. In total, the car now has 40% more storage space. Standard seating is cloth, with leather upholstery available as an option. You can ride in comfort for hours. Both the driver and passenger can relax their arms on the armrest because of its generous size. There’s room for three grownups in the rear. There is room for your kids in the third row, and while adult passengers will find it a little tighter than in most SUVs, it’s still more than most cars can offer.
Regarding the infotainment system, every GMC Yukon is equipped with a 10.2-inch floating screen. There is no glow on the screen even when outside in direct sunlight, attesting to the high quality of the display. There are seven USB and auxiliary ports in addition to HD and satellite radio on the screen.

Engine

GMC has maintained natural aspiration and pure displacement for both V8s, opting not to downsize or use forced induction. These motors are commonplace; the Chevrolet Tahoe features them, too. The 5.3-liter V8 machine generates 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, but you have to rev it to 4,100 rpm to reach its peak torque output. Off the line and passing at higher speeds, the 6.2-liter V8’s superior 420 hp, and 460 lb-ft give it a decisive advantage. The 3.0-liter turbocharged Duramax inline-six only produces 277 hp, but its 460 lb-ft of torque makes this engine stand out.

No matter which engine you go with, every Yukon has a ten-speed automatic transmission that’s both smooth and powerful. Compared to the six-speed transmission found in the previous-generation Yukon, this transmission does a much better job of making the most of the smaller V8’s lower outputs. The AT4 is not available with the oil burner engine, which would be ideal for this trim level because of its high torque at low RPM.
