2024 GMC Canyon ZR2 Redesign, AWD, Interior

2024 GMC Canyon ZR2 Redesign, AWD, Interior The Canyon and its bow-tie sibling have always been identical, but only to a certain extent. Only the Colorado now provides an off-road, dirt-throwing ZR2 edition, even though both vehicles currently share powertrains, a smooth ride, and an unimpressive cabin. That will soon change. According to rumors, the 2024 GMC Canyon will get a new AT4X model identical to the ZR2, giving it much greater off-road prowess to better compete with rivals like the Toyota Tacoma, Jeep Gladiator, and Ford Ranger. We anticipate that the Canyon AT4X will have the same locking front and rear differentials, Multimatic spool-valve dampers, improved suspension, and large Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires as the ZR2. Later in summer, the big-body Canyon is anticipated to cover the tires in the mud.

The 2024 GMC Canyon Crew Cab is Sierra’s younger sister in the GMC family. The 2024 GMC Canyon is a mid-size pickup truck. It is an excellent option for those looking for a pickup truck at a reasonable price that is roughly half the size. The Canyon is Colorado’s upscale brother and shares the same platform as Chevy’s Colorado. GMC provides two trim levels for the Canyon Crew Cab: Elevation Basic and Elevation. Prices start at $28,700 for the basic model and go up to $37,300 for the Elevation trim.

2024 GMC Canyon ZR2 Redesign

When you first see the 2024 GMC Canyon Crew Cab, expect a sturdy and attractive character that is highly pleasing to the eyes. The headlights and grille now have a more aggressive appearance even though the design language is the same. It fits the influential personality of the vehicle. With powerful body lines, the front fascia displays a fantastic physique. Expect amenities like 18″ aluminum wheels and all-season Blackwall tires, even in the basic model.

The basic model also includes LED Signature headlights and halogen projector-beam headlamps. The Elevation has necessary amenities, including heated exterior mirrors, LED fog lamps, cargo area lighting, and an EZ-lift lower tailgate with a black handle. The additional features give the vehicle a more seasoned appearance while enhancing its usefulness. We advise installing either the 17″ Dark Argent Metallic Cast Aluminum or the 18″ Black-Painted Aluminum wheels from the varied collection of aluminum wheels.

Interior

Last year, GMC made subtle styling changes to the Canyon, including a new grille that gave it a little more presence. Depending on your chosen model, the appearance is either quite challenging (AT4) or flashy (Denali). The AT4 stands out thanks to its 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires mounted on 17-inch alloy wheels, while the Denali gets 20-inch diamond-cut machined alloy wheels. Base versions come with 18-inch wheels. Halogen projector-beam headlights with LED signature lighting are standard on all models, as are daytime running lamps. Black door handles and manually adjustable mirrors are features of the base trim. The range-topper sports LED cargo box illumination, while the AT4 has a dark chrome exterior finish and red recovery hooks. Except for the bare frame, every trim has an EZ-Lift tailgate that makes raising and lowering the tailgate less difficult. A new Denali Black Edition kit that covers the flagship’s wheels and external trim in black this year gives it a threatening, stealthy appearance.

Our AT4 Crew Cab came with many nice extras, including 17-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, red tow hooks, a mid skid plate, a spray-on bed liner, and a variety of dealer-installed features AT4 emblems, off-road rocker protection, and a black performance exhaust. It is more attractive than its Chevy Colorado corporate cousin, and we adore the way it looks. The bed length, in this case, is 61.7 inches, as opposed to 74 inches for an extended bed. Our experience indicated that the conventional bed was enough for most duties.

Engine

For the Canyon crew cab, GMC has three engine choices. A 6-speed automated transmission is paired with the basic 2.5L inline-4 engine. In terms of drivetrains, the Elevation Standard only offers a 2WD drivetrain choice, while the Elevation also provides a 4WD drivetrain option. The engine produces 200 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque. This enables the vehicle to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 8.5 seconds and travel one mile in 16.5 seconds. 3,500 and 1,440 pounds, respectively, are its maximum payload and towing capacities. 8-speed automatic transmission is available with the 3.6L V6 engine as an option. The V6 produces more power despite being less efficient. The V6 engine produces 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The truck can reach 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds and complete a quarter-mile in 15.2 seconds, thanks to its V6 engine. It has the best towing capacity of the group at 7,600 pounds when fully outfitted.

Only the Elevation level is offered with the second 2.8L Duramax Turbocharged Diesel inline-4 engine, which has 182 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Due to its increased torque output and improved economy, the diesel engine provides a greater capacity for towing. The transmission shifts quickly, and the primary engine seems refined. When you crush the throttle, the 3.6L V6 engine’s power is immediately apparent and readily available. Additionally, the 8-speed gearbox shifts smoothly. The V6 engine is great for towing, and when combined with the AWD transmission, it is also great for driving in harsh conditions.

The Canyon’s handling capabilities are among its better features. You should select the elevation trim above the standard, as advised. The primary justification for it is that a 4WD version is also available. Over unforgiving terrain, the 4WD system offers superior traction. On highways, the steering is quick and smooth, with virtually no input and a less detached feeling. It functions effectively in urban areas. Body roll is extremely noticeable while riding uphill or turning. The suspension system is adjusted for off-road use; while slightly firmer, it effectively absorbs most bumps. Even though it is a pickup truck, the Canyon by DNA has an excellent ride quality.

2024 GMC Canyon ZR2 date and cost

The base price of the 2024 GMC Canyon is around $26,800, which is somewhat more expensive than the class average for small pickup trucks. Starting at $41,200 is the top-of-the-line Denali trim. Starting at $30,300 and $38,400, respectively, are the intermediate Elevation and AT4 models.
