New 2024 GMC Terrain Redesign
The GMC Terrain sports a truck-like front appearance with a lengthy overhang for a crossover with a 1.5-liter engine. Although we believe owners would become accustomed to the small buttons with time, we found them difficult to detect at a glance, especially when searching for reverse, making it tough to execute rapid three-point turns or operate the transmission’s manual mode. The Terrain is an accommodating companion for transporting a considerable cargo of varying sizes. It has a standard 60/40 rear seat and an optional flat-folding front seat. Cargo space in the Terrain is class-competitive. During our carry-on baggage test, the Terrain accommodated 24 bags with the rear seats folded. Still, the CR-V is somewhat more accommodating for individuals pursuing the maximum load space.
Terrain’s infotainment system is simple to operate and fast to respond to orders thanks to its clear visuals, logical menus, and the newest in-car networking technologies. Standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot. A navigation system is expected on the Denali trim level and optional on lower versions. The Terrain offers a head-up display, which is standard on the Denali and optional on the SLT and AT4. However, unlike other GM cars that project this feature onto the windshield, the Terrain uses a pop-up screen on the top of the dashboard.
Engine
The only available engine for the 2024 GMC Terrain is a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 with 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0L turbocharged inline-four engine is no longer available for the 2024 model year. The 1.5L turbocharged engine is coupled with a 9-speed automated transmission that sends all of its power to the front wheels. AWD is also an option for the powertrain. The 1.5-liter engine has a decent position in driving and handling, pushing the crossover easily and traveling smoothly on roadways. In addition, a 0-60 MPH speed of 9.3 seconds will be praised by everyday drivers. All-wheel drive is a good upgrade because it helps the car handle the occasional rough Terrain and gives the driver more confidence overall.
The Toyota RAV4 has 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, which is 33 horsepower more than the GMC Terrain. Following the RAV4 comes the Mazda CX-5, with 187 horsepower and a 0-60 MPH timing of 8.1 seconds. It is the quickest of the group.
