New 2024 GMC Acadia AT4 Review, Redesign, Colors – It’s safe to say that sales of three-row crossovers, like the GMC Acadia, have increased since at least 2020. This class of three-row SUVs provides the enormous utility with a powerful engine, a gorgeous and well-built cabin, smooth performance, and a lucrative price tag. At the top of the 2024 Acadia range, the AT4 trim level is equipped with the most off-road-oriented features. The turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 replaces the standard 2.5-liter inline-4, while the larger V6 remains. SLE is the new base trim for the 2024 model year, which sees the plug removed from the base trim.
2024 GMC Acadia AT4 Redesign
Exterior
There have been no aesthetic modifications to Acadia since the 2022 model year was redesigned. LED headlamps have been given a more forceful and beautiful contour due to the new design. The AT4 is well-suited to the slightly blacked-out interior. The front bumper is still somewhat decent, low for an off-road-centric trim. The crossover’s grille is enormous, giving it a robust appearance. A 17-inch gloss black alloy wheel with all-terrain tires is standard on the AT4. The wheel and fender clearance are enough for off-road driving. To accommodate the all-terrain tires, the fenders have been widened a touch. The mirror-mounted indicators have a sleek and sophisticated appearance.
At about 4,300 lbs, the Acadia AT4 is one of the heavier crossovers in the comparison and falls just short of the Traverse. According to length and breadth and height (197.4 vs. 75.4 vs. 66.7 inches), the GMC is the smallest in dimensions, which explains its tight third-row seating and the limited cargo room. The extra length of the crossover’s wheelbase aids in handling and stability. While the Chevrolet Traverse has the most extended wheelbase of 121 inches, Kia Telluride has the exact 8-inch ground clearance as the GMC.
Interior
The 2024 Acadia AT4’s interior is highly user-friendly, with all of the buttons and functions within easy reach of the occupants. The door panels are covered in a soft-to-the-touch material. The armrests are lined with leather and stitched in contrasting colors to enhance the crossover’s appearance further. Water bottles can fit in the door cubby. Additionally, the dashboard features a leather finish with contrast stitching and soft-touch material on the top. A trim piece extends in front of the air conditioning vent.
The infotainment screen is located in the middle of the dashboard, along with physical knobs and buttons that may be used to control the system. The push-pull gear shifter is located below the climate controls in the dashboard’s center. There’s a lot of room for the 12V and USB connections to be crammed into the center console. There are two cup holders on the console, the AWD selection, and the toggles for heated/ventilated seats. The armrest in the middle is enormous and covered in plush cushioning.
2024 GMC Acadia AT4 Engine
The basic engine in the 2024 GMC Acadia is now a turbocharged 2.0-liter. Still, the AT4 model receives a larger 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 271 lbs torque, sent to all 4 wheels via a 9-speed automated transmission. As for acceleration, the V6 can reach 60 MPH in only 6.1 seconds and complete the quarter-mile in just 15 seconds. The elevated driving position offers it a dominating presence in the city and excellent sight out the windows and the large side mirrors. The lack of blind spots in the cabin makes it easier to navigate the city’s traffic. They may feel a touch hard because of the AT4-specific tuning, but they’re OK.
The crossover’s suspension performs an excellent job of absorbing highway bumps, but the noise level within the cabin rises as a result of the wheels the crossover is fitted with. Input is abundant from the wheels, and a light steering feel assists in accelerating the crossover on curvy roads. The stiff suspension settings help the crossover feel planted and controlled with a bit of body roll when pushed hard.
