New 2024 GMC Terrain AT4 Price, Specs, Interior

New 2024 GMC Terrain AT4 Price, Specs, Interior – This entry-level compact crossover from GMC is built on Equinox’s chassis, which also underpins the Chevrolet Traverse. The Terrain has a higher price tag than its sister since it is a more upscale product. In addition to the Sierra, the AT4 is a GMC off-road-focused option currently available on the 2024 Terrain. Because the AT4 trim is stand-alone, there are few options here. With that being the case, GMC has a few choices that must be carefully considered, such as Rear Seat Entertainment Packages, Hit the Road Packages, and Skyscape Power Glass Sunroof.

FWD or AWD and a 1.5L turbocharged inline-4 generating 170 horsepower are standard on the GMC Terrain. The inside is stylish and roomy if you do not mind spending a little more. As a small SUV, it’s hard to argue with the car’s attractive look. A starting MSRP of $28,090 places the 2024 GMC Terrain directly in the crosshairs of Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, and Honda CR-V.

New 2024 GMC Terrain Redesign

The GMC Terrain’s exterior has received a design overhaul for the 2024 model year, making it even more appealing than before. The Terrain’s AT4 trim boasts a massive blacked-out grille, unlike the chrome one on Denali, which is flanked by C-shaped daytime running lights with projector headlights expertly incorporated, giving it a formidable appearance. There are chrome accents on the front bumper, and the fog lights are nicely tucked away. The crossover has a rugged, ready-to-go look thanks to the black body cladding and wheel arch trim. It continues with the C-shaped taillights, the black rear bumper, and roof rails, which add to the AT4’s rugged appearance.

Regarding size and weight, there isn’t much to separate the crossovers in our comparison, which are all extremely comparable. In terms of ground clearance, the Toyota RAV4 TRD has a higher one, while the Mazda CX-5 is lower. All three vehicles have similar ground clearance. However, the Honda CR-V is the lightest and best fuel efficiency, while GMC Terrain is the most rugged.

Interior

The GMC Terrain’s materials and construction quality aren’t significantly better than the Chevy Equinox’s, even though it’s the more expensive option. Many window switch-like switches on the console’s bottom end aren’t well-placed ergonomically and don’t look the part either. To drive this automobile regularly and swiftly swap gears, you’ll need to get used to the push-button gear shifter, which is not easy to operate. The Terrain is a beautiful vehicle in terms of spaciousness, with lots of room for people and baggage. The seats are comfy, and the softly sprung suspension system provides a pleasant driving experience.

Intuitive to operate, the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the Terrain has sharp visuals and rapid reactions. Also available is an in-dash navigation system and a head-up display; however, these amenities cost extra and are not included in the base model. GMC’s head-up production employs a pop-up display instead of projecting information onto the windshield like other automakers. The sound system is OK, but it lacks the oomph we’d expect from a top-of-the-line system.

New 2024 GMC Terrain Engine

Engine

A 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 170 hp and 203 pound-feet of torque will power the Terrain exclusively starting with the 2024 model year since GMC has removed the 2-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine from its range completely. All model levels feature a 9-speed automatic transmission, while the AT4 has an AWD powertrain as standard. This engine’s performance hasn’t been stellar in the past, as seen by the car’s 0-60 mph time of over nine seconds. However, in city driving, the acceleration is smooth and predictable, so don’t anticipate zippy, punchy acceleration as you would from a 2-liter engine.

To differentiate them from the other two AWD models, Terrain AT4 and Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road only come in two configurations: base and TRD Off-Road. The huge turbocharged 2.5-liter power mill in the Mazda CX-5 delivers the best acceleration, while the RAV4 has the maximum available towing capability. Even though it has a modest engine power, the Honda CR-V is faster off the line than the Terrain.

New 2024 GMC Terrain Price and Release Date

GMC has offered a mid-cycle redesign of the Terrain for the 2024 model year, which has been in its second generation since 2018. Since GM has dropped the 2-liter engine, the AT4 trim sits immediately below the Denali premium and is projected to cost roughly $37,000 with the 1.5L turbo-4 engine. It is yet to be announced by GMC when the 2024 Terrain AT4 will be on sale, but we expect it to arrive in showrooms in the last quarter of 2023, with deliveries following shortly after.
