2024 GMC Savana 2500 Redesign, Engine, Cost – There is only one trim level for the 2024 GMC Savana 2500 Cargo Van, so there is no more to choose from. Even so, you can choose from either a regular or extended wheelbase. The longer one is better for practicality because it’s easier to get in and out of places. The new 6.6L V-8 is the best one to get out of the three engines.
With no significant changes for almost 25 years, the GMC Savana has stayed the same, with the only significant difference being a facelift in 2003. Even though, as a work van for hauling cargo and towing trailers, they’re still one of the best options on the market for that job. The Savana is also a lot less expensive than its modern competitors, a significant advantage for small businesses who want to buy a cheap mid-size van for a few months.
2024 GMC Savana 2500 Redesign
After a significant facelift in 2003, the Savana has stayed the same with a few minor changes here and there. From the outside, the 2024 GMC Savana 2500 Cargo Van looks like the typical van shape that has been around for a long time. The cargo van trim has very little in the way of design. It has black bumpers, 16-inch steel rims, and dual halogen headlights.
Many competitors have changed their designs in the last few years. The Savana is the only one that doesn’t have high roof layouts available as an option. The GMC Savana is one of the lightest cars in its class, but it’s also more significant than the Ford Transit T-250 and the Ram ProMaster 2500 in the outside size. This looks like the Nissan NV2500HD is still the most prominent and heaviest van in its class. The RAM is the smallest and lightest.
Interior
When you buy the Savana in the cargo version, it comes with two bucket seats at the front with built-in armrests. There is a lot of support in the seats, and they are also comfortable for long trips. Unfortunately, the dashboard is straightforward and looks like a van from the early 2000s, which is what the Savana is underneath. In this car, the dashboard is mainly made of durable black plastic. The driver has quick access to all of its controls. Also, there are three cupholders in the middle for more convenience.
The Savana only comes with a standard roof height, meaning it can only hold 239.4 cubic feet of cargo in the standard-wheelbase model and 283.6 cubic feet in the extended-wheelbase model. The floor also comes with a black rubberized coating as a standard feature. The rest of the base is a blank canvas that can be easily changed. If you need to store things, GMC has shelving and other options, like sliding doors on the side of swing-out rear doors that make it easier to get in and out.
2024 GMC Savana 2500 Engine
The GMC Savana 2500 Cargo Van will still come with three different engines, including a powerful V8 and a small turbo-diesel engine. There is still a standard 4.3-liter V6 in the 2500 Regular and Extended wheelbase models. It makes 276 horsepower and 298 lb-ft of torque. But, for under $2,000 more, you can get the 6.6-liter V8 engine, which boosts the output to 401 h0rsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque.
The V8 engine is the least expensive, but a $4,000 option is also for a 2.8-liter inline-4 turbo diesel. This makes the V8 engine the most efficient. The base V6 engine and the turbo diesel come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The V8 comes with a six-speed heavy-duty transmission. The V6 gets to 60 MPH in 8.4 seconds and does the quarter-mile in 16.8 seconds, which is average for its class.
2024 GMC Savana 2500 Price and Release Date
There are three body styles, two wheelbases, and two interior layouts, so you can find the right car for you. Prices for the cargo van model start at $23,700. You can get it with a 135.2-inch or 155.2-inch wheelbase, beginning at the same price. The Ford Transit, the Ram ProMaster, and the Nissan NV are all more modern and have a lot of new technology than the Savana. It will follow GMC tradition and be released in the third quarter of 2023. The first deliveries are expected to start soon after that.
